The Juhl Photography Team
We love to create memories through photography. It is the most pure and direct way of expression and communication. It is truly a universal language. We are grateful for the opportunity, and look forward to exceeding your expectations--because you should expect the very best.
We listen and try to understand the needs of our portrait clients. Whether we are capturing a family portrait that will fortify family bonds and be passed down for generations to come, or celebrating a major milestone in a graduating senior’s young life, Our style when approaching children’s photography is patience. That sometimes brings out a beautiful posed portrait or an adorable un-posed candid that you will treasure for years. We prefer to capture the real moments in the life of your child--the ones where something silly sparks squeals of laughter, where new discoveries bring about a sense of wonderment or where an expression of absolute trust and serenity reaches the face of a child secure in the arms of their loved ones.
We bring a great deal of compassion and warmth to those with whom we work. Our passion for photography creates in us the desire to make a personal connection with our clients, to forge an ongoing relationship with those who trust in us to preserve their memories.

Owner / Portrait Photographer
My family and I moved from Green Bay to Watertown in 2005. After moving all over the East Coast for 10 years we finally settled back in the Midwest. (My husband and I both grew up in Iowa). We love the area and community here. My family has been a source for my love of photography. I have been studying photography and taking pictures since 1994; professionally since 2002; and continue to stay updated with my education in photography. My love for the art started with landscape photography and has transformed itself into the business I now know and love; working with people, portrait photography. This personal rapport that I establish with my clients paves the way for an exceptional level of customer service, individually tailored sessions, and the peace of mind in knowing that your photographer cares as much about the process of capturing your family’s memories as you do. It is both an honor and a privilege to capture the memories that you will cherish forever. Jayne Peter
Studio Manager / Portrait Photographer & Editor
I grew up in Jefferson and have lived in Watertown with my husband and two boys since 2004. I worked as a legal assistant for nearly 20 years and never really thought about photography as a career. Like most parents, I took a lot of pictures after my first son was born in 1999. My segue into professional photography began when I became friends with Stephanie and started helping her with sessions. I eventually began working with her in 2005. I have loved every minute of it since then. In my free time I enjoy camping with my family in our RV, watching my boys play sports, going for walks and reading a good book. I volunteer weekly, and on occasion, substitute at Webster School. Interacting with my sons classmates in both, the studio and school settings, is fun for me. It is in my nature to please people and find it most rewarding to create portraits that bring happiness to our customers. Whether I am working on a portrait order, meeting with a customer, or doing a session, working at Juhl Photography gives me the chance to do just that. Having grown up in this area I feel a connection to the community and look forward to meeting the new faces that visit our studio. My biggest “flaw” is that I want everything to be perfect, which has placed me in the position I am now enjoying at Juhl Photography. Although my day to day responsibilities have taken me out of the studio area somewhat, I try to sneak back in from time to time to do sessions. No matter what “hat” I am wearing, I always look forward to the one on one time I get to spend helping our customers. Susan Rupnow
Portrait / Event Photographer
As a child I was always the creative one in the family, drawn to the arts, drawing, singing, etc. I received a degree in Visual Communications from South Suburban College in South Holland Illinois. Over the years, I have enjoyed utilizing that degree in a variety of forms including several photographer positions all over Wisconsin. I am married with 3 children and have lived in Watertown since 2003. I love working at Juhl Photography, especially with the children. l have always been able to relate to a child in such a way that I can bring out that natural, magic moment, type of smile we strive for. I’ve always loved children! It is awesome getting to know all of our customers through the art of capturing their memories...knowing these are memories they will cherish for years to come. My other interests include singing in my church choir, reading the occasional good book, or catching a chick flick with a friend, as well as just spending quality time with my family. During the summer, our family enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including fishing and the occasional camping trip. Carolyn Kufahl
Quality Control Administrator
Newborn Photographer Assistant and Researcher I have been in Watertown for over 15 years now, most of those as a stay at home mom. I have always loved photography. It has been a big part of my favorite "past times" - gardening and landscaping, my boys' sporting events and travel. I have come to appreciate the art in its many forms. Responsible for the Quality Control at Juhl Photography has been a perfect fit with my past experience of owning a jewelry business. Details are everything. The smallest flaw can take a beautiful portrait and turn it into a cheap poster. I love working at Juhl Photograpy. My job not only allows me to use my expertise in attention to detail but it also allows me to talk with our wonderful customers everyday. We truly do have the best customers. Julia Reynolds
Customer Service / Office Administrator
I’ve lived in Watertown my whole life. I am currently a senior at Watertown High School. I plan to major in Graphic Design after high school. I’ve been interested in taking photos since I was young. During my high school time, I have taken many photography, business, and marketing classes. My photographer teacher introduced me to Juhl Photography. I was excited and jumped at the chance to work at a professional portrait studio. Juhl Photography has given me opportunities and experiences of a lifetime that I will always cherish. I love every minute I am there because the staff and wonderful customers are truly the best to work with!
